The Australian Contraception and Abortion Primary Care Practitioner Support Network (AusCAPPS) is funded by the Department of Health and Aged Care from 2024-2026 to improve access to long-acting reversible contraception (LARC) and early medical abortion (EMA) services in primary care.
It is a free, online community of practice that supports GPs, nurses, pharmacists, midwives, Aboriginal Health Practitioners and other registered health practitioners working in primary care who provide EMA and LARC.
Early medical abortion is also sometimes called Medical Termination of Pregnancy (MTOP).
The AusCAPPS Network aims to support the expansion of best-practice service delivery across Australia and make LARC and EMA more accessible through primary care.
AusCAPPS supports EMA and LARC providers through expert clinician case studies, questions and discussion with peers and experts, and access to clinical resources, training and local provider information.
We aim to expand the network to any registered health practitioners providing LARC and EMA services in Australia, and promote use of LARC for conditions such as endometriosis.
