Honours Research Project Name: Emergent roles in medication abortion provision; Experiences and support needs of nurses and midwives when providing medication abortion
care in Australia
Kirrilly is an Honours student within the Department of General Practice at Monash University’s School of Public Health and Preventive Medicine, supervised by Dr. Sharon James and Dr. Ensieh Fooladi (School of Nursing and Midwifery). Her research focuses on the experiences and support needs of Nurse Practitioners and Endorsed Midwives when prescribing medication abortion care. With the TGA’s changes to the prescribing of medication abortion, the expanded scope for these practitioners highlights the need to explore their experiences and support requirements. Kirrilly completed a Bachelor of Nursing at the University of Wollongong in 2024 and is interested in service provision and equitable access to abortion services, as well as the intersectional factors that shape women’s lives and health outcomes.
