Profile - Lakshmi Neelakantan

Lakshmi was born and raised in Chennai, India, and immigrated to Australia in 2022 after eight years in the UK. She is a mother of one. Lakshmi currently works as a Research Fellow at the Centre for Mental Health and Community Wellbeing, School of Population and Global Health, University of Melbourne. Using mixed methods, her research focuses on the prevention of violence and adversity in childhood and child maltreatment, and the evaluation and implementation of mental health interventions for young people. Before training as a researcher, Lakshmi practiced international trade and economic law in New Delhi, India.
