Postpartum Contraception Network

The Postpartum Contraception Network is a network of researchers, clinicians, public health, and other professionals working in, or with interests in, research, clinical practice and/or policy relating to access to postpartum contraception information and services in primary care, community and hospital settings in Australia and similar countries, as well as consumers with lived experience of postpartum care. Membership in the network provides an opportunity for connection, support and collaboration.

The Postpartum Contraception Network meets online several times a year, with additional communication and activities as needed.

Our vision: All women, pregnant people, people who have given birth, and partners have access to high-quality evidence-based contraception information and services to support informed decision-making, pregnancy planning and preparation, and healthy birth spacing.

The objectives of the Postpartum Contraception Network are to:

  1. Identify and progress key priorities relating to postpartum contraception care.
  2. Share and disseminate evidence-based good practice for postpartum contraception care.
  3. Share knowledge and practices to foster multidisciplinary, cross-sectoral collaboration, shared learning, new ways of thinking/working, and research translation.
  4. Create opportunities to form collaborations and develop and progress research project ideas.
  5. Advocate for evidence-informed, consumer-supported policy and practice in postpartum contraception care.
