Prophylactic use of Rh D immunoglobulin in pregnancy care: updated guidelines released

The National Blood Authority’s new guidance no longer lists medical termination of pregnancy before 10 weeks of gestation as a sensitising event requiring immunoprophylaxis and states that "in the setting of medical termination of pregnancy before 10 weeks of gestation there is insufficient evidence to suggest the routine use of Rh D immunoglobulin".
